Honorary consuls hold limited consular authority and are not staffed like a career mission. Many are not German citizens.

This office cannot take passport applications. The Federal Foreign Office states it plainly, so a new German passport means going to Atlanta.

Visas and German ID cards are outside every honorary consul's powers, here and everywhere else in the country.
